Saint Nerona Imu is the King of the World (世界の王, Sekai no Ō?) who occupies the Empty Throne, giving him sole authority over the World Government. One of the First Twenty responsible for the creation of the World Government and the only one alive today, his status has been kept an absolute secret from the world at large for over 800 years since the Void Century.

With the ambition of finally bringing the Great War to a decisive conclusion, Imu directed his subordinates the Five Elders to procure Dr. Vegapunk's invention, the Mother Flame, and ordered the Knights of God to annex Elbaph in an invasion that he eventually personally participated in.

Imu first appeared during the Levely Arc. Due to his status and actions, he is the main antagonist of the Elbaph Arc, an overarching antagonist in the Egghead Arc, and one of the primary overarching antagonists of the Final Saga and the One Piece series as a whole.

Recovering down in Elbaph's Dead World, Imu unleashed a burst of Supreme King Haki, knocking out the beasts in the area. Overcome with anger at his own failure to recognize the future threat the Roger Pirates would pose, Imu transformed further into a bulkier form, before flying back up to the Sun World. He was in disbelief to see that Gaban had survived Honebami with only a lost arm, and prepared to unleash another attack to finish off both Gaban and Luffy. Before he could do so, however, Hajrudin intercepted, punching Imu away with Gungnir. Imu tried launching Omen projectiles, only for them to be blocked as he crashed back into the Adam Tree. Imu quickly recovered and flew back over, trying more Omen attacks, only for Hajrudin to block them using his own body. To make matters worse, Loki arrived to assist just as Luffy finally managed to recover, with the trio using San Sho: Gokoku against Imu.
