The MH-53 is a heavy-lift, long-range helicopter family. The USAF utilized the MH-53 Pave Low for special operations and combat search-and-rescue until retiring them in 2008. Currently, the US Navy operates the MH-53E Sea Dragon, an aircraft used for airborne mine countermeasures and heavy-lift logistics. The Pave Low was the ultimate evolution of the Super Jolly Green Giant. Famous for its heavy armor, terrain-following radar, and aerial refueling capability, it specialized in inserting and extracting special operations forces behind enemy lines
