The Prodigy is a British musical group formed in 1990 and focused on electronic music. Along with Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method, The Prodigy are pioneers of the bigbit genre, which gained popularity in the 1990s and 2000s. The band appeared on the underground rave scene in the early 1990s and since then has been very popular and famous all over the world. In total, more than 25 million copies of the band's albums have been sold worldwide. As of November 2018, The Prodigy's total album sales in the UK are 4,707,982 copies.

The band has won numerous awards throughout their career, including two BRIT Awards, one award from Q magazine, four MTV Video Music Awards, two awards from Kerrang magazine! and six awards of the MTV Europe Music Awards. The band has also been nominated for a Grammy Award twice. In addition, in 2012, The Prodigy were recognized as the best dance group of our time by Mixmag magazine.

The Prodigy were able to create their own unique sound, using elements of various styles in music, ranging from hardcore techno, industrial and breakbeat in the early 1990s and ending with electro-rock with vocal elements of punk at a later time. The band currently consists of multi-instrumentalist Liam Howlett and vocalist and MC Maxim Reality. Previously, The Prodigy members were dancer and vocalist Keith Flint (1969-2019), keyboardist and dancer Lyroy Thornhill and dancer Sharkey, who left the band at the beginning of her career.
