Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province in southwest China. The history of the city dates back to the 4th century. BC, when it became the capital of the kingdom of Shu. Monuments of material culture dating back to that time, found during archaeological excavations, are stored in the Jinsha Museum. The city is home to the famous Giant Panda Research Nursery, where visitors can observe the endangered bears in their natural habitat.
