描述

Mechanised Book Stand is a multipart model inspired by Victorian era adjustable book stands, these designs mostly used slides and clamp screws, so I decided to take the design forwards by making some of the adjustments mechanised by means of lead screws and worm and wheel gears.
The design offers adjustment to the spread and angle of the surfaces supporting the book using adjustment knobs, as well as pitch and yaw adjustment employing clutch clamp and pivot clamp arrangements. Additionally, there are page holders adjustable in height and rotation by means of adjustment screws. The arrangement allows the user to support books of many different sizes and shapes at optimal pitch, opening angle and support geometry along with alternative uses such as employing it as a laptop or tablet stand.

Additional items are included with download:
Parts for multiple alternative mounting options including: clamping desk mount, flanges for wall and base screw mounts (2 versions of each with different screw holes), pole clamp mounting options for 32 mm and 50 mm poles (standard diameters is computer monitor mounting systems), a stackable height adjustment post so that height can be customized in your own mounting arrangement along with a 100mm VESA flange (standard computer monitor flange) mount option.
(I have also included drill templates for the wall and base screw flanges to make installation easier)
I have provided a separate set of files for a variation of the design which has all the cosmetic patterns removed, in case they are not to your taste, offering the functionality only.

I have included all files as individual parts in both .STL and .STEP formats along with a full .STEP assembly which you can open with most cad software and see how it looks assembled (this can be useful when putting it together).
There .3mf files for the with and without patterns options in both native Bambu Labs and Generic format.

About the model:
The model requires no printing supports.
The model requires no additional hardware, except for the pole clamp mounting arrangement which will require 6 x 50-60mm length M8 Screws and 6 x M8 washers
Many Parts in the model are quite large in the context of home 3d printers, a bed size of 254x254mm is required (this is size of my Bambu P1P bed)
This design will function well in PLA but you need to make sure that you add plenty of extra wall loops for the screws in particular and for the components which bear the most load; I have been using 4 wall loops 30% infill, 0.16mm layer height.

Build Recommendations:
Be very careful not to over tighten screws, they need to be screwed in all the way but not tightened any more; the screws are only there to stop knobs falling off, and their tightness has no impact on structural integrity. If the screw puts up excessive resistance going in, don't get ambitious, take the screw out and check the thread for printing errors.
In order to make the mechanisms run as freely as possible I applied spray on PTFE dry lubricant, it however will work without this.
For the rail traveller's check on assembly that you have the correct side, they are not identical, one has a CW thread the other a CCW.

If anyone has a specific mounting arrangement that they require, get in contact specific and I will add it to the download.

Enjoy.
