star-lord is a fictional superhero appearing in american comic books published by marvel comics. the character, created by steve englehart and steve gan, first appeared in marvel preview #4 (january 1976). the son of human meredith quill and spartoi j'son, peter quill assumes the mantle of star-lord, an interplanetary policeman.
