many people ask why this alien is dark brown and has the ribbed head when the original alien is a pale grey skin with a smooth domed head. apart form james cameron completely gate crashing the franchise with 'aliens' he changed a lot, especially the design of the alien creatures. it was mainly left to the fans to explain the changes. the aliens with the ribbed head and brown skin are exactly the same as the grey aliens with the smooth domes, however the brown ribbed aliens are actually older mature aliens and at their final lifecycle. the grey smooth domed aliens are young drones and not fully matured. just a little bit of useless alien fan trivia for you
