\"terrible claw\", deynonichus (or deinonychus) was another of the dinosaur kingdom's elite predators with an impressive mix of speed and savagery. deinonychus possessed a retractable, sickle-like claw on the inside of each hind leg. being retractable, these claws were always sharp for delivering fatal slashes! like raptors, the deinonichus were strong fighters and would often attack animals larger than themselves. also like raptors, deinonychus likely hunted in packs.

in the jurasic park films, the raptors portrayed were more likely based on the deynonichus, as raptors were only three feet tall, and the deynonichus was 6 feet tall, 13 feet in length and weighed up to 175 pounds. there is some debate in paleontological circles as to whether the deininichus might have had some feathers.
