2181 An expedition from Earth consisting of Captain Zeleny, Professor Seleznev and his daughter Alice sets off on the ship Pegasus in search of new species of animals for the Moscow Space Zoo. In the lunar restaurant they meet the archaeologist Gromozeka, who advises them to visit the planet of the Two Captains, since the famous traveling captains Kim and Buran met many unique animals during their expeditions. The heroes turn to Doctor Verkhovtsev, director of the Museum of Two Captains, for help. But the doctor behaves suspiciously: he does not show them the captains’ diaries and begins to follow them.
