Project 50 Ermine-class frigates (according to NATO classification, Riga-class frigates) are warships of the Soviet Navy developed after World War II. they replaced the project 42 patrol boats. It was developed in two modifications: modification 50 and modification 50-plo (with reinforced anti-submarine).
the lead ship was laid down on December 20, 1951 and received the name "Ermine", launched on July 30, 1952, accepted into the fleet after lengthy tests only on July 30, 1954, until 1958.
