IFA W50 is a truck manufactured by the GDR. It was produced for 25 years, a total of 571,800 copies were produced. The correct name of this machine is W50L, since IFA is the abbreviation of the Industrial Association of Automobile Manufacturers of the GDR, and not the name of the plant, as many believe. This association included almost all automobile plants in the GDR. The factory that produced these trucks was located in the city of Ludwigsfeld, hence the L letter in the model index. This truck became widespread not only in the GDR, but also in all countries of the former socialist camp, as well as in the states of Asia, Africa and South America. With the unification of the two Germanies into a single state and the collapse of the socialist camp as the main buyer, the production of obsolete IFA products W50L lost relevance.
