The Precision Sextant - Vintage Model

The sextant used by the navy could not be applied to aviation due to the difficulty of the definition of the sky-line at a normal flight altitude. Gago Coutinho developed a new model of sextant that could be used to measure the altitude of a star without the need of the sea horizon. This new instrument was called the “Precision Sextant”. It used an artificial horizon line which was defined with the help of a water bubble. It also used an illumination system to allow its use during weak light conditions.

Being portuguese and discovering a little *** of story about how Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral made the first flight across the South Atlantic, aided by this tool it made me try my best to recreate a solid replica of the real one. The model was completely modeled on the most recent version of Blender and textured on Adobe Substance Painter. The sextant model comes with 2 sets of textures: 2K resolution and 4K resolution. This was you can set up and decided which is the optimal resolution to use for your projects. In case you need to set a quick scene you may also use the 2 preset HDRIs included with the project.

The native file is a .blend, however you'll find a .fbx, an .obj & .mtl and an .stl file format included with your purchase.
