Busan is a port city located in the southeastern part of South Korea. It has a long and rich history, dating back to ancient times.
In the early days, Busan was known as Geochilsan-guk, a small kingdom that was founded in the 2nd century AD. During the Three Kingdoms period (57 BC – 668 AD), Busan was controlled by the Silla kingdom, which used it as a strategic military base due to its location on the coast.
During the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910), Busan became an important center of trade with Japan and China, and it continued to grow in importance during the early 20th century as a center of trade and commerce. However, during World War II, Busan suffered significant damage as a result of Japanese bombing raids.
After the war, Busan became a key point of entry for refugees fleeing from North Korea, and it played a crucial role in the Korean War (1950-1953), serving as a major supply and logistics base for the United Nations forces.
In the decades that followed, Busan continued to grow and develop, becoming a major industrial and commercial center in South Korea. Today, it is the country's second-largest city, with a population of over 3.5 million people, and it remains a vital hub of trade and transportation in the region. Afdruk Gereed: Nee
