documentation (history)

the knights templar was a medieval christian military order prominent in the crusades, from the early 12th century until the early 14th century. hugues de payens or payns was the co-founder and first grand master of the knights templar. in association with bernard of clairvaux, he created the latin rule, the code of behavior for the order.
