Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (also known as TMNT 1987) is a 1987–1996 American animated television series co-produced by Murakami-Wolf-Swenson and the French company IDDH [fr], the first adaptation of Kevin Eastman's comic book series of the same name and Peter Laird. The premiere of the pilot episode of the series - in the format of a five-part mini-series - took place at the end of 1987; the official airing of the first season began on October 1, 1988. The success of the series subsequently contributed to the success of its main franchise, which acquired a phenomenal status.
