ordinary gudgeon (latin gobio gobio) is a representative of the genus of minnows of the cyprinidae family. it is widely distributed in europe, except for its northern and southern parts. it reaches a length of 22 cm, but is larger than 15 cm is rare. the body is greenish-brownish from the top, with silvery sides and covered with bluish or blackish spots. in the corners of the mouth there is a mustache. adult fish consume larvae of tendipedids, pods and small shells of peas. in spring, eats eggs of other fish. sexually mature gudgeon becomes in the third-fourth year of life, with a length of more than 8 cm.
