Designed by Hervé Langlais for StudioTwentySeven, the OOO bench is inspired by the façades of Doge’s Palace in Venice, a master example of gothic architecture. The piece is made from a solid piece of dark green Verdi Alpi marble and marked by the three circles that make up its base. After a precise block of marble is chosen, the OOO bench is put through a machine (the exact details of which are the designer’s secret) that roughly creates its shape. All the surfaces are then hand-finished and polished to give the console its final appearance. “I refine the marble of the OOO bench to the very limit of the material’s resistance,” says Langlais. “This approach creates a minimal yet classic form that gives it power and lightness.”
