the turbine of the torque converter causes the transmission to spin, which basically moves your car. the fluid is circulated through the converter and exits the turbine through the turbine shaft.

the turbine shaft transmits the torque to the output shaft and also redirects the fluid leaving the turbine to the hydraulic system.
