history of assassin

altaïr ibn-la’ahad was born in an isolated mountain area in syria, where the events of the first part of the game “assassin’s creed” actually unfold. he was raised to be an assassin since early childhood, trained by his mentor al-mualim, whom altaïr considered to be a father figure due to his biological parents’ early deaths. after saving his teacher’s life during the templars’ attack, al-mualim elevated altaïr ibn-la’ahad to the rank of master assassin. during the third crusade he was assigned to get a piece of eden: apple of eden #2, a powerful artefact hidden in the catacombs of solomon’s temple. during this mission altaïr neglected many assassins rules, as a result he and his companions were defeated by the templars who later attacked the town of masyaf, headquarters of the assassins. to restore his good name and lost title altaïr needed to find and expose the traitor who helped the templars enter the town. he figured the betrayer out when his mentor al-mualim used the sacred piece of eden to bend all the townspeople in his will. altaïr conquered the traitor al-mualim and securely hid the apple so that no one would be tempted to use it. after that altaïr contributed the brotherhood as mentor and was always faithful to the tenets of the assassin’s creed.
