Description
Overview This is a high-precision 3D printable model of Germany’s tallest landmark — the Berlin TV Tower. Designed with an engineering focus in SOLIDWORKS, this model features the iconic diamond-faceted sphere that captures light beautifully. At a default height of 200mm, it serves as a sophisticated souvenir, office desk accessory, or architectural gift.
Design Features The model uses a monolithic design, optimized to be printed as a single piece to ensure structural integrity and a seamless look. The observation deck is modeled with precise facets to replicate the real-world aesthetic of the tower. The flared conical base ensures the model remains stable despite its high center of gravity.
Engineering & Printing Tips The tower must be printed vertically. Due to the 200mm height, it is highly recommended to reduce printing speed during the final 30mm of the spire to prevent vibrations and "wobble" effects. A 10mm Brim is essential for bed adhesion to keep the model securely attached to the build plate. Use Tree Supports exclusively for the underside of the sphere; the base and the spire are designed to be printed support-free.
Recommended Print Settings Material: PLA or Silver Silk PLA (Silver/Chrome for the sphere, Grey for the base). Layer Height: 0.12mm - 0.16mm (to capture the sphere's facets and fine detail). Infill: 15-20% (use 50-100% for the top spire to increase durability and prevent breakage). Walls: 3-4 Wall Loops (crucial for the stability of the thin antenna). Supports: Tree Supports only under the sphere's curvature (45° overhang threshold). Adhesion: 10mm Brim (mandatory to prevent the tower from tipping over at 200mm height).
