This project showcases the CAD modeling and structural design of an innovative planetary truss bridge, engineered entirely within SolidWorks. Moving away from standard static geometry, this bridge integrates a unique planetary-inspired structural layout to optimize load distribution across its members.
Utilizing SolidWorks' robust Weldment and Simulation toolsets, the bridge was modeled with precise weldment profiles to establish clean structural joints. A comprehensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was performed to evaluate structural integrity under static loading conditions. The simulation maps von Mises stress concentrations, displacement gradients, and factor of safety (FOS) distributions, ensuring high load-bearing capacity while minimizing overall material mass. The final design highlights how complex geometric aesthetics can seamlessly merge with rigorous mechanical engineering principles.
