2D Junior Animator CG Jobs
Job Description
This is an incredible opportunity to join a booming company at an early stage of a new project, driven by a strong desire to succeed and learn. We are a fast-learning, talented team wishing to engage with unique and challenging projects where collaboration is key and pushing the boundaries is everything!
This is a broad role. In a team this size you won’t be siloed into one discipline. You’ll work across asset animation, some character work, VFX, and marketing material, reporting to our Lead Animator.
If you’re keen to spend your time shipping work across the whole pipeline and learning from the people sitting next to you, this is the job for you.
What you’ll be doing
Animating core game assets (this will be the bulk of your day-to-day)
Taking on larger pieces such as character animation as you grow into the role
Producing concept animation tests that feed into the overall art direction
Working with the wider art team on VFX animation
Rigging and preparing assets for import into the game
Taking direction from our Lead Animator on game animation for the bulk of your work, and working with them to keep animations efficient and consistent
Supporting marketing assets, animatics and promotional material for the marketing team.
What we’re looking for
A strong grasp of animation fundamentals of visual arts, particularly in 2D animation.
A general artistic eye; we’d love someone who also enjoys digital painting, composition and overall visual design
Working understanding of a game development pipeline, from concept through to asset import, though your primary focus will be rigging and animation.
Non-destructive, tidy working habits; files get shared constantly in a team this size
Ways of working
Clear communicator who can work comfortably across disciplines.
Collaborative and enjoy engaging in healthy debates.
Happy to give and take feedback, and to align with colleagues on technical and design constraints before diving in.
Able to estimate your own work, juggle a few tasks, and flag early when something’s slipping.
Humble and open, willing to teach and willing to learn.
Self-directed when the queue is quiet, and comfortable asking what’s most useful next
Fluent written and spoken English
Excellent time management
Suitable home working setup for your remote days (we provide the hardware)
Software
Spine: our primary animation tool, you'll be in it daily. Confident, working proficiency required.
Adobe Suite: solid working knowledge; particularly comfortable in After Effects
Adept in Photoshop or an equivalent digital art package
Benefits
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Hybrid working, with flexible working around core hours of 10am - 4pm
Studio-provided workstation and drawing tablet, plus your own desk in the office
Regular 1:1s or scheduled feedback sessions with the Lead Animator.
Wishbone Games is a Cardiff-based studio. We build worlds that spin, and we make slots worth playing. For over a decade, our team has designed for land-based casinos and online markets, with a keen focus on quality over volume, and gameplay over gimmicks.
Every release is made in-house, with our art team working in Spine and HTML5. Here, artists own their work end-to-end instead of inheriting a piece of someone else’s — even if that means making a few games that feel great instead of a lot that don’t.
