Job Description
Cloud Chamber is looking for a collaborative Senior Technical Visual Effects Artist to join our team. You will work closely with the VFX and Tech Art teams to push creative and technical boundaries, drive progress, and set the stage for a stunning narrative and systems driven game experience.
Reporting to the Lead VFX Artist, the Technical VFX Artist collaborates closely with the VFX Team to identify technical blockers, expand upon the department's scalability, and become a key contributor in the closing out of the game. In addition to this, they will act as the bridge between Core Tech and Tech Art Teams to *****s and build up our library, and solidify our workflows.Job Details:
- Create Visual Effects that captivate and engage our audience.
- Work with the VFX Lead, and collaborate with the Team and associated departments to *****s and identify opportunities in our workflow and toolkit, and expand upon those subjects.
- Quickly prototype proof-of-concept workflows and tools that can be hardened and adopted into the larger day to day workflows of the team.
- Work closely with Core Tech and Tech Art departments to help broadcast and communicate the needs of the department, and act as the liaison between our different spheres.
- Identify technical blockers and expand upon the department's scalability.
- Act as a key contributor in the closing out of the game.
- Communicate effectively with team members, production and management to ensure that project goals and deadlines are met.
- Receive, give, and apply feedback effectively while maintaining a constructive attitude.
Skills, Experience et Qualifications:
- 5+ Years of experience in AAA game development or equivalent, and having shipped at least one AAA title.
- A Strong understanding of VFX workflows and scalable solutions for game development.
- A love for research, reference, and documenting your findings to share with the team, using software like Confluence or equivalent.
- An eye for process and optimization that keeps our effects on-target with performance requirements for multi-SKU releases.
- A critical eye for timing, animation, and motion of real-world objects as well as mind-bending, fantastical VFX.
- Experience in Unreal Engine 4/5, and its Materials and Blueprinting Workflows. Knowledge of Niagara modules logic is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge with authoring software such as 3DS Max/Maya, Photoshop, Substance Designer or similar.
- Experience with Houdini and/or Embergen.
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages are a plus.
- Highly motivated with strong communication skills, and an open-minded professional attitude.
- A positive force multiplier with a great team-player attitude.
- Open to build and expand upon the knowledge base of an experienced team.
- A strong aptitude for organization, exploration and documentation.
- Able to pivot, iterate and engage in positive critical discussion and problem solving.
