Description

Île de la Cité is a small island in the heart of Paris, France. It has a rich history dating back to ancient times, when it was a settlement of the Gauls, the Celtic people who inhabited the region before the Roman conquest.

During the Roman era, the island was known as Lutetia and was an important center of trade and commerce. It was also the site of the Roman forum, or marketplace, and several other public buildings.
