Then the owners began to cut off the top of the bottle, leaving low walls and a thick bottom. This is how the first old-fashioned glasses appeared, which quickly gained popularity.
Because of the warm climate in the United States, it is customary to serve drinks with ice. For a long time, ice in drinking establishments was a single block of ice, from which the bartender broke off pieces. This is how the second name of a whisky glass appeared - rox, i.e. a block, a rock.
