Description
The first contact mines had mechanical detonation mechanisms, but in the 1870s they were replaced by the “Hertz horn” (or “chemical horn,” a German invention from 1868), which worked reliably even after several years in the sea. The upper half of the mine is studded with hollow lead projections (Hertz horns), each containing a glass vial filled with sulfuric acid. When the ship's hull crushes the metal horn, it breaks the vial inside, causing an electrochemical reaction that activates the battery, which detonates the explosive. This technology (the basic design of the Hertz Horn) is used in modern mines around the world and in all oceans and seas.
This set includes separate 3D models
1. British “Herz Horn” (Sea Mine) Type HT2, First and Second World War periods.
- single solid body model.
2. British “Herz Horn” (Sea Mine) Type HT2, - assembly model.
3. British “Herz Horn” (Sea Mine) (Sectioned) - assembly model.
4. British “Herz Horn” (Sea Mine) Type HT2, on a ‘STAND’ (Sectioned) - assembly model. 5. British “Herz Horn” (Sea Mine) Type HT2, on a “STAND” - assembly model.
6. GERMAN “Herz Horn” - First World War period - single solid body model of the outer cap of the detonator.
7. GERMAN “Herz Horn” - Second World War period - single solid body model of the outer cap of the detonator.
(Connection dimensions GERMAN “Herz Horn” – thread compatible with British “Herz Horn” bushing – allowing installation in “STAND”.)
All 3D models are made in CAD quality in actual size –
For example, the maximum dimensions of the British “Herz Horn” Type HT2 are 240x85mm.
The dimensions of the “Stand” base are 200x110x198mm.
These models are made are intended primarily for 3D printing or CNC manufacturing of bench models - training models, for use as a visual aid. The models are adapted for the possibility of manufacturing and subsequent assembly of the product layout. The models are assembly models, contain files of all conditional parts (STL) in high-polygonal version to obtain qualitatively smooth forms. Additionally, the set contains all files of 3d models for obtaining high-quality realistic close-up rendering (smooth lines, selected, prepared surfaces - for applying materials or textures - "Assigned materials" surfaces with conditional color markings), see the image of models and examples of 3D rendering results in specialized professional applications (for examples- KeyShot).
For visualizations (rendering) for the examples, standard features (sets of materials and textures) of the KeyShot program were used.
ADDITIONALLY, SPECIAL MATERIALS OR TEXTURES WERE NOT DEVELOPED OR USED. There was no need for this. The kit contains a batch files of visualization in KeyShot 5 (.ksp) (see rendering examples). In addition to solid model file formats, converted highly detailed polygonal file formats are additionally provided.
